Seeking: Comedians, Singers, and Spoken Word Performers
Seeking performers -- Comedians, Singers and Spoken Word Performers for Performing Arts celebrations to be held at The Undercroft Coffeehouse, a performance space of Long Island City at 31-18 37th Street (31st Ave & 37th Street, R-Train to Steinway, N-Train to Broadway). The event showcases talented performers who live or work, teach or perform in the Long Island City /Astoria Queens area. Selected performers are considered for a Manhattan showcase. To submit your act, please send the following to ellasmith@earthlink.net :

1) Name
2) Your performance category and the selection you will be performing (comedian: stand-up routine; singer: title, songwriter; spoken word: title, author or self-written)
3) A brief description of your selection (performances must be 5 - 7 minutes in length).

The LionHearted Playres Sketch Comedy Troupe is seeking short sketch-comedy scripts (10 -15 minutes in length) for a Manhattan showcase. To submit your script please send a sample to: ellasmith@earthlink.net.

A Celebration of Performing Artists -- Comedians, Dancers and Poets ? will be held Saturday, September 25 from 2 to 4pm at The Undercroft Coffeehouse, a performance space of Long Island City at 31-18 37th Street (31st Ave & 37th Street, R-Train to Steinway, N-Train to Broadway).

Hosted by Ella Smith & Powell Leonard of the LionHearted Players Comedy Troupe, the event will feature Belly Dancer Zoe Artemis (dancer, poet, & performance artist); along with specially invited guests, the comedy duo The Rob and Mark Show. The Menu for the Afternoon: Coffee, Tea, Great Conversation and of course . . .Joyce's Famous Hot Chicken Wings!!! The event will also include an Open Mic segment for poets and other performers. Zoe Artemis is a belly dancer, poet, dance therapist & performance artist. Her performance will include her own poetry and poetry from her favorite 'Beat' poets. She is opening Artemis Dance Studio in Astoriawith Belly Dance, Yoga and Alexander Technique classes, beginning Sept.20.

The Rob and Mark Show are the Smothers Brothers for the new millennium. They create something different from traditional Stand-Up. A show filled with sketch and music that is unique and upbeat, original and entertaining, and just plain funny. They headline a monthly show at The Gin Mill on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and have hosted shows featuring other comics such as Walli Collins and Gary Greenberg. They have performed regionally in the Tri State Area as well as Gotham Comedy Club, Stand Up New York and B Bar on the Lower East Side among others. The Rob and Mark Show are winners of the Connecticut Comedy Festivals' Third Annual Laugh Off hosted by Jimmie "Dy-no-mite" Walker broadcast on Connecticut's PBS affiliate. www.robandmarkshow.com

The Undercroft Performance Space at Trinity Lutheran Church periodically features the LionHearted Players Comedy Troupe and currently hosts a Literary and Music Open Mic Coffee House performance series.
